About the scholarship

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team in the field of sustainable, low-carbon concrete. The PhD position is funded through the Building 4.0 CRC (https://building4pointzero.org/round-3-scholarship-call-now-open/). The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and conducting cutting-edge research in the area of sustainable, low-carbon concrete materials, with a focus on developing new technologies and techniques that can reduce the environmental footprint of concrete production and usage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting independent research on sustainable, low-carbon concrete materials and technologies
  • Developing new methods and techniques for reducing the environmental impact of concrete production and usage
  • Collaborating with other researchers and industry partners to advance the state of the art in sustainable, low-carbon concrete
  • Presenting research results at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications


  • A master's degree in civil engineering, construction materials, materials science, or a related field
  • Strong background in concrete technology and sustainable materials
  • Experience in conducting research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

The position is full-time and includes a full tuition fee scholarship and stipend, and opportunities for professional development. The position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.

The successful candidate will be working in the Advanced Protective Technologies of Engineering Structures (APTES) Research Group, which has been recognised as one of the leading centres in advanced materials & structural systems, and physical infrastructure protection in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
