About the scholarship

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team in the field of sustainable, low-carbon concrete. The PhD position is funded through the Building 4.0 CRC (https://building4pointzero.org/round-3-scholarship-call-now-open/). The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and conducting cutting-edge research in the area of sustainable construction, with a focus on developing new technologies and techniques that can reduce the environmental footprint and enhance the recycling and circularity of the built environment throughout its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting independent research on sustainable construction, circular economy principles, and lifecycle assessment
  • Developing new methods and techniques for reducing the environmental impact of buildings and infrastructure during their design, construction, operation, and end-of-life phases
  • Collaborating with other researchers and industry partners to advance the state of the art in construction circularity
  • Presenting research results at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications

Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in civil engineering, architecture, environmental science, or a related field
  • Strong background in sustainable construction, circular economy principles, and lifecycle assessment
  • Experience in conducting research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

The position is full-time and includes a full tuition fee scholarship and stipend, and opportunities for professional development. The position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.

The successful candidate will be working in the Advanced Protective Technologies of Engineering Structures (APTES) Research Group, which has been recognised as one of the leading centres in advanced materials & structural systems, and physical infrastructure protection in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
