This project aims to propose an innovative chemical recycling solution for the residue plastics generated at Australia’s largest plastic recycling plant. After sorting plastics in the recycling plant, around 20% of the infeed plastics are sent to landfill. This causes a major environmental issue, reduces profitability and incurs cashflow strains to the recycling industry. These residue plastics have a significant proportion of reusable mixed plastics and this project aims to develop an upcycling solutions using chemical recycling methods.

The project is a collaboration with Department of Chemical Engineering.
