Mesenchymal stem cells are used in many tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. However, it is difficult to culture a large enough number of cells required for medical applications. Additionally, current scaffold materials do not provide the appropriate biochemical cues to the cells for maximal efficicacy in tissue enginering applications. This project aims to develop novel materials using decellularised extracellular matrices to improve stem cell manufacturing and tissue engineering.
