The 2014 AOTULE Annual Meeting will be held on the campus of the University of Melbourne. The venue for all but the Student Conference will be the Law Building, located 5-8 minutes walk from the Engineering Precinct. The Student Conference will be held in the Old Metallurgy Building, part of Engineering. Both venues are located 5 to 8 minutes walk from Rydges Hotel, the main accommodation arranged for participating staff. Student accommodation will be at Trinity College 10 minutes walk further north.
The University of Melbourne campus is located 1 ½ km north of downtown Melbourne, but there are many different restaurants within 500 m of the venues.
Melbourne International Airport operates 24 hours a day and is located 23 km north-west of Melbourne. Travel time between the Airport and the University (and surrounding hotels) varies between 20 and 45minutes depending on time of travel. Taxis costing A$60 one way are the most convenient way to get between the University and the Airport. Skybus offers a service between the Airport and Rydges Hotel at a cost of around A$30 return.
Delegates will be walk easily between their accommodation and the campus venues as all are located on or adjacent to the campus.
Melbourne enjoys a temperate climate with warm to hot summers, mild and occasionally balmy springs and autumns, and cool winters. In late November the average daily maximum temperature is around 23°C, although warmer days into the high 20’s and high 30’s do occur. Occasional light rain can also be expected during late November.
